I began painting with watercolors in the fall of 2020 as a way to improve my well-being and mental health. It has brought me great joy and satisfaction to express myself in this way. Allowing the watercolors to do what they want to do while guiding them along is a beautiful, meditative experience. I have surprised myself at how much I have taken to this medium.
I continue to experiment with new techniques, materials and environments as a way to stretch myself as an artist and to discover what resonates with me the most. My most inspired paintings are usually loose, abstract and/or nature-based; some have a minimalist Zen-like quality while others are more bold and daring. You will see some mixed media in my works- mostly black, white or metallic ink layered with the watercolors.
In 2023, I began my first endeavors into the world of painting en plein air. In June, I won 2nd place in the Adult category at the Farmington Community Garden plein air competition. I also painted my first nocturne watercolor while competing in the 19th Annual Sainte Genevieve Plein Air Competition.
I hope you receive as much inspiration from viewing my work as I did while creating it!
